Dang

The seller wont sign unless the second mortgage bank agrees to not come after her for the difference. She does not want to declare bankrupcy. She would rather go to forclosure than bankrupcy. This must be her only debt. Like us she owes more than the house is worth and is under water. Tom said he wouldn't sign either in the same circumstances.

Forclosure could take years. My sister in law has not been forclosed on in three years of living in her house and not paying a mortgage. They keep threatening to kick her out and auction the house off but it has not happened yet. We can't wait years. We can barely wait much longer. I am looking at other houses. The little house went pending for someone else, so I have to start from scratch.

The bank could change it's mind and accept the settlement as debt paid in full. The realtors are working hard. For them to get this far and then lose the transaction is almost as frustrating as we feel about not getting the house. The house might not survive sitting empty for much longer without really deteriorating.

I told Tom about the holes above the windows under the deck. I thought they might be caused by animals trying to nest. Tom thinks it is termite damage. My Dad thought he saw carpenter ants or termites on the deck when I showed them the house. For Tom to also think it is termites makes two independant sources thinking termites. Not a good sign. Without treating for the bugs the house will go fast. Sitting empty while the banks work their way to forclosure will ruin the house. It will become a meal for the bugs.

We can't wait for the house to become completely bank owned. We are half way through summer. School starts in a month. Trevor is already at Football camp. Both boys are registered. Tom doesn't like living away from us and not having his things. The commute is expensive.

I am keeping track of the days I drive to Longview so we can expense the travel as moving expenses. Every time I go up there I look at houses in hopes of finding something that works. The selection of houses that fit our needs is slim. Size, decent private yard, well thought out floor plan, price in our range; I am surprised at how many homes do not fit the bill. Patience, but time is running out.
