My girlfriend took the boys to Merwin Dam for the day. Near the boat dock there was a three foot long fish swimming sluggishly in the shallows. They figured it had been hit by a boat propeller. Trevor, always able and willing, jumped into the water and herded the fish by hand over to the beach so everyone could get a good look. My girlfriend pulled it out of the water. Another family came over to admire the dieing fish. The father put the fish out of its misery then proceeded to help my girlfriend gut and clean it. They split the fish between the two families. My boys received the head and upper body. The assisting family took the rest.
When I arrived to pick up the children, they proudly showed me the fish head. The body was baking in the oven for dinner. The fish was delicious served over brown rice with a little butter. Everyone ate it, even Riley. The only side effect from the dinner seams to be that my boys have gas. We had to ride home with the windows of the car rolled down on the freeway to vent the odor. Their systems are just not used to fish.
